lacy

In 1977, artists Suzanne Lacy and Leslie Labowitz put on “Three Weeks in May”, a collaboration that combined performance with activism to address violence against women in Los Angeles. In this clip from upcoming documentary !Women Art Revolution, Labowitz and Lacy (with some help from Judy Chicago), characterize the milieu out of which this piece arose, and how they used art as a way to create alternative, interruptive images to catalyze awareness and change ("In Mourning and In Rage"). This excerpt of the film includes an interview of Leslie Labowitz shot by Peter Kirby.
